Freedom to Be Original

Now this is a freedom that some take to heart, but many still spend our time conforming to what we think others want to see. I myself have been guilty of that from time to time, and so have many of our great leaders and entertainment artists. Michael Jackson is often used as an example for this, but I don’t agree. A better example would be Paris Hilton, Perez Hilton, or even Brittany Spears. But let’s take this down to regular people’s level… Your ex.

Have you ever dated someone and feel like you were the “special one” to them- only to realize once you break up that they have a “one size fits all” approach to dating. Literally. You see him taking her to the exact same places using the exact same nicknames and it makes you a little glad, esctatic even, that you got out while you could. Seriously, what is it about some people that think the same score works everytime? How do you as the current gal/guy feel finding out that you’ve been getting hand me downs? I think one of the reasons me and my ex didn’t get along was because I didn’t fit neatly into his cookie cutter mentality. I am original, and I’m proud of it. A little unpredictable at times but one thing’s for sure- when I call you my Taji-Waji Pumpkin Pie, you’re the first and last to have that messed up nickname!

Unoriginality

Come baby spit that game to me
That new, original, next episode of what we could be
Not the old tired line you used before
Give me something fresh that leaves me wanting more
Aww baby don’t act like that
Repeating the same old song? Homie, that’s kinda whack
Pull your pants up, buckle down, think real hard,
Don’t go searching the lost & found
See, that’s exactly why it didn’t last before
Passing on the same score, like yousa pimp the lyrics your whore
See, the ladies don’t like a man who can’t think
Providing “intelligent” conversation that’s all in sync
With the database you keep in your mind
To help you reminisce on those old tired lines
Get the future in your mind, who are you really?
What’s your purpose in life, outside of getting yours truly
See, when you can’t even commit and be real to you
How can you commit to any girl (or any dude)?
Get it together people, take a real stand

Freedom to Choose [Love]

So, this will definitely be a subject much visited and re-visited because there are so many aspects. We’ll talk about cheating for this episode. Why do people do it? There are many excuses, from a lack of attention to “it just happened”, are we really to buy into any of them? At the end of the day, cheaters make a CHOICE. You all have the freedom to choose the power of love over lust and remain faithful to the one you pledged your heart to. If it’s not there anymore, why not simply leave them?
It’s a decision to make no doubt, especially when you know what you’re giving up but not so sure about what you’ll be getting. It’s only human nature to hold on to what you know while you try different things out. The point is, however, that it’s not fair. You should never put your partner through something like that. I have a friend who’s life is like a really sad, super tearjerker TRAGEDY- and it all started with infidelity and ended with suicide. So when you meet that new man or woman that piques your interest, think about this: what is it really worth? Why are you so interested? What are you pursuing?
I know people are huge fans of platonic friendships between men and women, but let’s not forget this is where it starts. You form a bond, you get close, you call each other when things are good and bad, then one day “it just happened”. It didn’t “just happen”: you fed it, nurtured it for however long and THEN the bond became irresistable. You have a Freedom to Choose who you love, but with it comes a responsibility that their happiness is intertwined with yours. Be as careful with their hearts as you want someone to be with yours.

What If?
What right do you have to show up again?
After all this time I’d put you far from my mind
That traitorous place that never does as it’s told
But always has something to say ‘bout the new and the old
Battling this weather storm that’s far from its place
Putting me in positions that drive me insane
In turmoil over this random thought pattern
This self-inflicted divisive contemplation
Serving no purpose but mental manipulation
The situation does not exist and yet there it is
Unfeasible probabilities not plausible in physics
My creative juices begin to flow as it works the possibilities
Yet knowing from the jump there are critical inconsistencies
Like the fact that she is in love with another
And the knowledge he’s shown no interest in getting under the covers
All these things to a rational mind are worthy to consider
And put your mind right, forget about getting closer
Unfortunately she’s off again headed down a new dead end path
Causing me much heartache as she continues to wonder…
What-If?

Mr. Mr.

December 19
Mr. Mr.

How can one person be so “right” all the time
Realize that folks never dig that line
Please consider that God-Complex’s are all in Your mind

Mr. I’ve never done anything wrong before
Mr. You need to fix what’s wrong in your life
Mr. Everything I say or do is right
Mr. Everything you say or do is wrong

How can you claim to love someone
When the steps creating their mind you despise
Got them regretting just one thing in this life
Opening their big mouth, sharing with you all those times

Mr. I have so much to say, you should listen
Mr. I don’t need to know your position
Mr. I’m everything all this time you been missing
Mr. Now it’s time for you to get in line

I shouldn’t have to watch my tongue around you
Worrying what you’ll misconstrue in the depths of my mind
We’re the same, but we’re not, Baby you and I
And keep it up, and soon all you’ll find is

Mr. I need her back in my life right now
Mr. How could I have been so blind
Mr. I should have seen, she’s what I’ve been missing
Mr. Now she’s gone, I’ve run out of time

So Mr. Mr., let’s get one thing straight
I mean what I say, of that have no fear
The past is the past, and can’t be changed
And it can’t be forgotten, lest the future be the same

So let’s move on from this very old tale
And get on with living, giving God praise
We’ve come so far, here mistrust has no place
So let’s continue on, in God’s good grace
