Freedom to Sleep
So, anyone who knows me should have seen this blog coming. I love to sleep! I sleep in, sleep out, and wake up just so I can go to sleep again. The only thing that rivals my love of sleep is eating, because my body will not let me sleep if I’m hungry.
Oh, the fact that sleep hates me is a problem too!
I know you’re thinking, “Sleep doesn’t have feelings, it can’t hate you!”, but I implore you to hear me out. I lay down to sleep some nights, and my mind refuses to turn off. All day I have been bored, focused on mundane items and overall looking forward to the moment I can tuck tail, run home and sleep. I get there, and all of a sudden there are tons to do and think about. Did I send this email? What if I do this at work? Did this person think I was crazy?? and my all time personal sleep-killer, I think I should start a business for that!
Just when I think I have everything under control, my nemesis sleep throws something else at me that I can’t ignore. Now I’m engaged and have a wedding to plan, but the additional work doesn’t seem to be slowing him (my sleep nemesis is male because they are the source of all female troubles!) down. I apologize to sleep for whatever I have done to offend it, but thanks to its rejection of me there is now an addition to my publishing business. We have added Live. Write. Publish!, a Christian Self-Publishing imprint of Ellechor Publishing House. Thank God my sleep is smart, because I really couldn’t take a career change! Sleep, please understand that we all have the Freedom to Sleep if we want to. Without headaches, calls from friends & family, random thoughts invading, nightmares and other sleep busters. Sleep makes everyone a happier person, and happiness spreads like a virus. Please, sir, may I have some more?
So, to sleep I dedicate this poem:
I’ve loved you like a brother, and all I get is scorn
I hold you dearer than my sister, but still my heart is torn
I know you think it’s funny, to deny me all I need
But I have rights in this America, and all I want is SLEEP!!

I love this article, especially because I usually have to run sleep down, hit it over the head with a hammer, bind it with three ply cord, and make it lie down with me!! However, whenever I can lure sleep in…the time we spend together is sweet!!!
